ME, Rusk, Chapel Hill, BG players honored

Week Nine of the high school football season saw the biggest offensive explosion of the season.
It also had other fantastic performances on defense and special teams as well.
The Tyler Morning Telegraph Players of the Week for Week Nine of the high school football season include: Offense — Mount Enterprise running back Kaegan Ash; Defense — Rusk defensive back Aiden Barnett; Special Teams — Chapel Hill returner Jayvin Mayfield; and Offensive Line of the Week — Bishop Gorman.

OFFENSE
Ash, a sophomore, had one top rushing nights in Texas High School football history.
Ash carried 35 times for 508 yards and eight touchdowns and added five 2-point conversions, in the Mount Enterprise’s 74-60 over Carlisle on Friday at Arrowhead Stadium in Price.
The Wildcat is now tied for 17th with Ashton Stredick of Needville according to Joe Lee Smith’s TexasHighSchoolFootballHistory.com. Stredick rushed for 508 yards against Fisher Canyon Lake in 2019. The all-time record is 599 yards by Matt Gadek of McKinney, who set the mark against Plano East in 2017.
Mount Enterprise (4-3, 2-1) returns to play on Friday, hosting Tenaha (6-2, 3-0) at John Webb Stadium. Kickoff for the District 11-2A Division II game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
DEFENSE
Barnett had eight tackles and three interceptions in helping his Eagles to a key 28-21 win over Bullard on Friday in a District 8-4A Division II game at Eagle Stadium in Rusk.
Rusk improved to 4-4 on the season and 1-3 in district.
The Eagles return to play on Friday, traveling to Brownsboro to meet the Bears (5-3, 1-3). Kickoff at Bear Stadium is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Mayfield returned a kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown and a punt 90 yards for a TD as the Bulldogs scored a 63-24 win over the Henderson Lions on Friday in a District 9-4A Division I at Bulldog Stadium in New Chapel Hill.
Chapel Hill (7-1, 3-1) meets Athens (5-3, 2-2) on Friday at Bruce Field in Athens.
OFFENSIVE LINE
The Bishop Gorman line helped the Crusaders to a 54-7 win over Waco Reicher in a TAPPS Division IV District 1 game on Friday at McCallum Stadium in Tyler.
The offensive line includes the starting unit of left tackle KaMauri Alford, left guard Jackson Stokes, center Brian Johnson, right guard Zeke Conner and right tackle Sam Kerzee. Adam Martinez and Martavian Lee saw action on the line as well.
The Cru OL paved the way for two running backs rushing for more than 100 yards — Chance Harrison (7 carries, 103 yards) and Kennedy Davis (6 carries, 120 yards, TDs). Also, freshman quarterback Eli Saurette hit on 8 of 14 passing attempts for 132 yards and three TDs.
Gorman (2-6, 1-3) will tangle with Dallas First Baptist (7-0, 3-0) on Friday in Dallas. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
