Christian leader and cultural commentator Deacon Calvin Robinson will offer the keynote address at the 2023 Benefactor’s Banquet for Good Shepherd School.
Robinson frequently appears on television and radio shows like the Tucker Carlson Show and the Megyn Kelly Show, where he advocates for religious freedom and free speech.
Many also know him for a speech he delivered at Oxford Union earlier this year in defense of traditional marriage.
“Deacon Robinson is a modern-day hero of the faith, and I’m happy to count him as a friend,” said Fr. Nicholas Ziegenhagen, Headmaster of Good Shepherd School and Associate Rector at Good Shepherd Reformed Episcopal Church in Tyler. “Christian education has never been more important. Churches and schools are the engines of culture, and there is no Christian culture without Christian education.”
According to Ziegenhagen, the mission at Good Shepherd is to equip the students with the tools of learning and to endow them with the wisdom of the ages so they may serve God and their fellow man with love, virtue, and strength.
Robinson is well known for his unabashedly orthodox Christian perspective in the UK public square, and his recent conflict with GB News highlights his stance against censorship and restrictions on religious liberty.
Good Shepherd School’s Annual Benefactor’s Banquet will take place on Monday, Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. at Bella Vista, located on 22525 State Hwy 155 in Flint.
Tickets are $75 per person and can be reserved at gsstyler.org/banquet. Corporate sponsorship options are also available. All proceeds will benefit the school’s financial aid program.
Good Shepherd School has been a Tyler-area institution since 1979. As a parish school of Good Shepherd Reformed Episcopal Church, its classical Christian curriculum aims to nurture students academically and spiritually while imparting the wisdom and faith of those who came before.
Along with fundraising for Good Shepherd School, this event will be especially significant for traditionalist Christians in the Tyler area.
“The fact that Deacon Robinson has made time to fly across the pond to help us pursue that mission (that) is heartening–both to myself and to our school staff and families,” Ziegenhagen said. “We look forward to his words of encouragement.”
