Kate Middleton has been living and working in the public eye for years, and is well aware that every move she makes is closely studied and scrutinized, including her style decisions. The Princess of Wales recently visited the HMP High Down prison in Surrey, England, and showed off a new hairstyle—more pronounced curtain bangs.

Kate has been wearing a less obvious form of the bangs for at least a couple of weeks now, but it’s clear from recent photos that she’s leaning more into the face-framing style. She had previously debuted the look at the 2023 Rugby World Cup Group Stage game between England and Argentina on Sept. 9.

It also appears the Princess of Wales has opted for a slightly darker hair hue as the Northern Hemisphere heads into autumn and winter.

Kate took the visit to the prison as an opportunity to learn more about how incarceration impacts both the imprisoned and their families. As part of the trip, she shadowed the experience that a visiting family member has at the prison, starting with the security clearance process.

The Princess of Wales, who has often worked within the family and childhood sphere, also spoke with prison officials about what steps are being taken to make visiting a loved one an easier experience for children.
