Blackhawk Creek Grill in Whitehouse offers classic Texas favorites made with local ingredients.

WHITEHOUSE — A new venue in Whitehouse is offering East Texans a unique experience with its restaurant, amphitheater, general store and more.

Blackhawk Creek Grill held a ribbon cutting last week and opened its doors over the summer.

Owned by couple Aaron and Leeann Skinner, the restaurant offers a Texas classic menu serving fresh to table dishes cooked over a mesquite wood grill using ingredients sourced locally including Wagyu beef from Yamamoto Ranch in Palestine and using fresh herbs and lettuces grown right on the property through its own aquaponics system, according to Leeann Skinner.

“Our restaurant is a private club offering a full selection of cocktails, as well as beer and wine. We also have an outdoor covered pavilion with full band stage and outdoor grass amphitheater,” she said. “We have a large covered back porch for customers to watch college football while enjoying brunch, lunch and appetizers.”

“As longtime ‘foodies,’ we have a passion for quality food and service; we felt this area was in need of another good restaurant that is not just fast food,” Skinner said. “From our local farms and our own farm, we will provide a quality experience for Whitehouse, Troup and other surrounding communities.”

The restaurant also serves grab-and-go burritos in the morning during the week as well as coffee and boasts a general store with bottled drinks and an assortment of locally crafted items.

“Our venue also features Point Blank Gun Shop and Outfitters for all your firearm needs both retail and gun smith,” she added.

Skinner said the idea for the venue came from a place of wanting to bring back the old times when people gathered for fellowship and relaxation.

“We wanted to back the old times a little; large porches for people to enjoy talking to someone and maybe putting down the cell phone for a second,” she said. “While we are a little out of town, people should know it will be worth the drive, as this is a unique experience for all of East Texas.”

“From listening to good music, to our outdoor space, gun shop and quality food in a clean environment, we won’t disappoint,” Skinner said.
