A new coffee shop centered on “all things cowboy” is now open in Troup. Barkley’s Coffee Shop, owned by Malissa Barkley, started the building remodeling process in September of last year and officially opened its doors with a ribbon cutting earlier this month.

“We are a small, family-owned business and our brand is all things Cowboy,” Barkley said. “We wanted to bring something to Troup and be part of the growth of this great community.”

Barkley said the vision is not to solely grow as a business but also as a part of the Troup community.

“Our vision was to not just be a business, but truly be a part of the community. A place for people to gather, enjoy a cup of coffee, and hopefully be around long enough the next Generation will still be reminiscing about old days at Barkley’s Cowboy Coffee,” she said. And, because we are a locally owned business, we are able to give back to the schools and city; which we have done already.”

The cowboy-themed coffee shop offers a wide variety of espresso drinks, cold brew, caffeinated refreshers, frappe’s, smoothies, sandwiches and sweet treats.

“We are passionate about our products and are excited to get to know our locals,” Barkley said.

Troup Chamber of Commerce Suzanne Loudamy said the coffee shop will be a great addition to downtown Troup.

“Barkley’s Cowboy Coffee will be a great addition to downtown Troup. Early opening time will offer a quick coffee and breakfast for on the go parents dropping off kids at school and heading for work,” she said. “Lunchtime they will offer sandwiches and such for busy workers downtown and those driving through.”

Loudamy went on to say the entire community benefits when a new business opens its doors.

“When any new business door opens in Troup it is a plus for the entire community. Whether it is the service they offer, individuals they employ and in the case of Barkley’s Cowboy Coffee it brings a menu that is different than other restaurants currently open here,” she said. “A hometown business, run by local people and in the heart of historic downtown Troup; it doesn’t get any better than that.
