The Quilters Guild of East Texas was founded in 1981. Its purpose is to preserve the heritage of quilting, to assist members in developing a high quality of excellence in quilting, to be a source of information and inspiration, and to provide a gathering of people with a common interest, according to the website.
It is a nonprofit and membership in the guild is open to anyone interested in quilts — beginning, intermediate, and advanced quilters, as well as collectors and admirers.
Monthly guild meetings are held the second Thursday of the month at First Christian Church, 4202 South Broadway, Tyler. Meetings provide an opportunity for quilt enthusiasts to enjoy fellowship, fun, speakers and programs covering many aspects of quilting. The monthly meeting also includes “Show and Tell” where members and guests present their recent work. Non-members are invited to attend twice as guests before joining.
