TJC drops game on road in Port Arthur

The Apaches were hoping to start conference with two wins, but Tyler Junior College went cold down the stretch in dropping a 64-56 Region XIV basketball game to Lamar State-Port Arthur on Saturday at the Carl Parker Center in Port Arthur.
TJC falls to 7-4 overall and 1-1 in league play. The Seahawks snapped a four-game skid to improve to 5-6 overall and 1-1.

Teh Apaches were led by Marcus Rigsby Jr. with 17 points, while Dariyus Wooodson added 12. Corey Camper Jr. was held to eight points.
Lamar State had four players in double figures, led by Jordan Henderson and Deuce Guidry with 16 points apiece. Avontez Ledet added 14 poitns and Adam Scherbakov pitched in 11.
TJC led 47-40 in the second half, but the Seahawks outscored the Apaches 24-9 to end the game.
The Seahawks are scheduled to visit Kilgore College at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The Apaches are home on Wednesday to face the Lee College Navigators (9-3, 2-0). The Lee College Board of Regents voted in July to change the mascot from Rebels to Navigators. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Wagstaff Gymnasium.
The first game of the doubleheader has the defending national champion TJC Apache Ladies opening conference play with Coastal Bend at 5:30 p.m. It is the Seventh Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater game.
