Boys Basketball Roundup: Grace, Canton, Brownsboro win

Grace Community’s Reed Alexander

Reed Alexander made a free throw and then stole a pass and turned it into a layup in the final seconds as Grace Community took a 62-58 win over Chapel Hill on Monday.

Peyton Kelly and Kole Crawford led Grace with 12 points each. Alexander had 8 points. Darius Shankle and Cade Covington scored 6 points. Will Bozeman, Wilson Smith and Daniel Shankle all had 4 points, and Grayson Gaddis and Drew Gaddis each added 2 points.

Adrian Mumphrey led Chapel Hill with 21 points. Emery Crayton and Tyrese Cooper each had 10 points.

Other scorers for Chapel Hill were Jordyn Bradshaw 6; Andrew Snoddy 6; and Jorden Ford 5.

Grace (6-0) will play Whitehouse at 7 p.m. Friday in the TABO Classic at Whitehouse’s C.L. Nix Wildcat Arena.



Canton 57, Kaufman 43

Garrett Walker poured in 24 points as Canton took a 57-43 win over Kaufman on Monday.

Layne Etheridge had 9 points for the Eagles with three first-quarter 3-pointers. Chantson Prox and Jaden Pickerill each had 6 points. Rex Baldwin scored 5 points, Cason Bell 4 and Gabe Axtens 3.

Nick McBride led Kaufman with 14 points, making three 3-pointers.

Brownsboro 58, Rains 43

EMORY — Tanner Ballard scored 17 points as Brownsboro took a 58-43 win over Rains.

Hudson Childers had 13 points, and Gekyle Baker scored 12 points. Other scorers for Brownsboro were Jacob Hopson 6; Aiden Green 4; and Landon Hayter, Keaton Delaney and Bryce Bardin 2.

Evan Emig and Everett Kreck each had 11 points for Rains.

Brownsboro (3-0) will play at Paris North Lamar on Tuesday.
