Girls Basketball Roundup: Amari Welch scores 1,000th point; Canton, Edgewood, Brownsboro win

- Canton freshman Amari Welch accepts the MVP trophy for the 14th Annual Macy Chenevert Patriot Holiday Classic from Becky and Steve Chenevert following the Eaglettes’ 45-36 win over Winnsboro on Saturday at the Herrington Patriot Center on the campus of UT Tyler.
Edgewood 48, Lindale 23
EDGEWOOD — Kassidy Paul scored 15 points to lead Edgewood to a 48-23 win over Lindale.

Blair McPhrerson had 12 points. Tristen Bell, Ella Tyner and Brook Elliott all had 5 points for Edgewood. Other scorers were Brooklyn McPherson 3; Brille Ditto 2; and Kagan Grant 1.
Brooke Everest led Lindale with 10 points. Other scorers for Lindale were Marley Keith 4; Felicity Thiem 4; Lydia Payne 3; Landry Laing 1; and Elise Pierce 1.
Edgewood (3-1) will face Mabank at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
Brownsboro 57, Hawkins 37
HAWKINS — Tiykeah McKenzie scored 24 points to lead Brownsboro to a 57-37 road win on Monday.
Khyra Garrett had 14 points for Brownsboro. Other scorers for Brownsboro were Hannah Stout 8; Khayla Garrett 7; and Michelle Lewis 3.

Brownsboro (1-2) will play in the TABO Classic at 4 p.m. Saturday in Whitehouse.
Brook Hill 28, Mount Enterprise 17
MOUNT ENTERPRISE — Brook Hill won its eighth straight game with a 28-17 win over Mount Enterprise on Monday.
The score was tied at 11 at halftime, but Brook Hill limited Mount Enterprise to two field goals in the second half.
Karmen Miller led Brook Hill with 9 points. Lila Morris and Mylee Booth each scored 6 points. Remy Tonroy and Julianna Mize each scored 3 points, and Bethany Lavender added 1 points.
Brook Hill (8-3) is ranked No. 9 in the TABC Private School Class 4A Rankings — the first TABC ranking for the program.
Brook Hill will host Athens Christian on Nov. 29.
