If Fritz Hager III is successful in his bid for a final 3 spot on “American Idol,” he would participate in a community parade at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday beginning on the downtown Tyler square.

According to Visit Tyler, the city invites the public to welcome Hager’s caravan by coming together on the square and/or along the parade route. The parade would begin on Broadway Avenue, turn on Rusk Street then on College Avenue before ending at Bergfeld Park for a live concert beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The concert would be filmed as part of the “Hometown Visits” episode of the show set to air as part of the finale.

Voting will take place during tonight’s episode which airs at 7 p.m. Those who wish to support Hager can vote for him during the episode, and voting will close at the end of the final commercial break.

There are three voting methods: online at americanidol.com/vote, the American Idol App, or by texting the contestant number to 21523. (Hager’s number will be announced during the live episode.)

“This is the stuff dreams are made of for our family,” said Hager’s dad, Fritz Hager Jr. “We’re so excited to see the community come together to support Fritz.”

City officials are also praising Hager’s success as he represents Tyler on a national stage.

“We are so proud of not only the voice and talents of Fritz Hager III, but also how well he continues to represent Tyler,” Mayor Don Warren said. “He is definitely the one to watch this season.”

Hager advanced to the top 5 contestants last week after performing two original songs, “All My Friends” and “The Ocean,” both of which are on his self-titled EP that recently hit No. 1 on the iTunes Pop Chart. According to “American Idol,” “there wasn’t a dry eye in the auditorium” after Hager surprised his mom with an anthem about his family during the episode.
