The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the person who was found deceased along Interstate 20 Monday afternoon. 

DPS said Wednesday Joshua Hammond, 39, of Canton, was found at 4 p.m. Monday by a Texas Department of Transportation road crew in Van Zandt County. 

The TxDOT crew found the body, later identified as Hammond, while cleaning debris from the grass on the south side of I-20 about 2.6 miles west of Canton.

The investigation is ongoing, according to DPS.
