Smith County ESD 2, EMTs, Tyler Fire Department Hazardous Materials Regional Response Team and first responder units all responded to the 3-vehicle crash at Wolfe Lane and Highway-64 outside Chapel Hill.

Three people, including an infant, were hospitalized after a three-vehicle wreck Wednesday in the Chapel Hill area.

The driver of a white Toyota Camry, traveling west on State Highway 64, stopped to make a left turn onto Wolfe Lane when a green Chevrolet SUV, also westbound, struck it from behind, according to a preliminary report from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The impact then caused the Toyota to travel into the oncoming lane, where a gasoline tanker, traveling east, struck the vehicle, DPS said.

The tanker swerved through a line of trees and stopped in a grassy field, spilling gasoline.

The driver of the tanker, the driver of the white Toyota and her infant passenger were taken to an area hospital.
