Response to disappointed vet

A letter in Wednesday’s paper was from a man in Arp that was part of a veteran group that participated in the Association of Military Veterans and the Camp V Purple Heart Event on the square in Tyler on Friday, Aug. 7. He was upset because it had very low attendance and he was disappointed.

Where has this guy been? Doesn’t he know what is going on in the country right now and this summer and year? He was upset because they had no military dignitaries to speak and no representation for the state or national offices. He could not understand why it was so low attended by the public.

First off it was on a Friday afternoon (!) and second, the virus is still rolling right along in East Texas. This guy must live in a bubble, or twilight zone, and does not listen to the radio, TV or read the papers.

This event should have been on a Saturday and not a working day. It was not that people were disrespecting our veterans, it was poor timing.
