Disappointed in turnout TO PURPLE HEART EVENT

On Friday, August 7, 2020, The Association of Military Veterans rode in with flags flying to Camp V Purple Heart event. Our group comprised one half the attendees. As CO of the group, I was amazed at the lack of participation. Two of my associates receiving the award constituted, once again, one half the honorees. Tyler and surrounding area is home to many other Purple Heart recipients. Why so few in attendance? Tyler, in association with Camp V, should be proud to stand and honor our veterans. There were no military to present or speak. Not any representation from state or national offices.

The media was truly amazing in their coverage. Kudos for an outstanding presentation of our military being honored for sacrifices made for this nation. Maybe next year.

School mask rules NOT A GOOD PLAN

Tyler schools are not requiring masks of those under age 10. Masks are mainly for protection of others in the class, including teachers. While many children under 10 who catch the coronavirus have either no symptoms or mild ones, they are still at risk of developing “severe” symptoms requiring admission to an intensive care unit, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in a new report released Friday. Not only are the young students exposed to a serious disease, they can become carriers for teachers, older students and family members. This is not a good plan and subjects families in East Texas to unreasonable choices.
