Letters to the editor
Peaceful, protests are lawful under our constitution, but what we see in Democratic governed cities is mob anarchy, and it should be stopped and the participants jailed.
If these rioters were in another country, they would be shot and treated as traitors. Why do we let them ruin people’s lives and businesses?
“Basement” Bidon thinks they are okay but wait until they decide they don’t like him or his administration. As the saying goes “Every dog has his day.”
I’m 87 yrs. old and most likely will not be on earth when all “Hell” breaks loose. My prayer is that my Savior Jesus will return and bring an end to this madness.
May I add to those who hate the Jews. Jesus loves them and will set up his kingdom on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
Gen 12:3 I will bless those who bless you and I will curse those who curse you.
Anti Semite, that means you.

God and Flag
In your July 21 paper returning to God and church. When we worship God we bow to our knee to praise him. We are showing respect and honor to the creator of all. To express approval, glorify, and thank him for blessing America with freedom. We do this by getting on our knees.
Do the people that refuse to put their hand on the heart and stand for the American flag realize when they bow and kneel they are bowing to the flag. To bow to the flag is praising it for what it is. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. They are glorifying the flag for what it stands, praise and honor to the many people that died for that flag to wave. Do people really understand what it means to bow and kneel? America Kneeling to God and the flag may mean more than just standing?

Dear Editor:
Burma, Liberia, and America! What an elite group! These are the only nations left on the earth that have not converted to the metric system of weights and measures.
John Moore published an editorial on this subject a couple of weeks ago, but he failed to mention the whole world has gone metric except for the above mentioned three nations.
Many years ago, I taught chemistry at Kilgore College. During the first semester, we had to spend several hours teaching the metric system and conversion from English to metric and vice-versa.
the metric system is much easier and simpler than our English system, which even the English don’t use anymore. The difficult, time consuming part is the conversion.
What we call the “English system” is really not a system at all. It’s a hodge-podge of illogical units that even we don’t fully understand. What a dram, a stone, a furlong? Most of us don’t know.
Foreign trade would be greatly simplified if we converted to metric. I’m a little surprised we have not already changed. the sooner, the better.
Thank you for letting me express my views. I’ve been a TMT subscriber for many years.
Sincerely,
C.H. Whiteside, Ph.D.

Flying an american flag at your home is an excellent idea as noted in the letter to the editor printed on Sunday, July 26, 2020. We started flying our flag to support all the people working on the COVID 19 pandemic. Now we are also flying it to support the Black Lives Matter movement, our police men and women, our service personnel and our teachers.
The protesters are now anarchists and are wearing masks to protect the people they come in contact with. Now is the time to make changes in our country so that everyone is given an equal opportunity to succeed. And yes, be sure to vote on November 3rd, a freedom that our flag represents.
