TYLER — A memorial service will be held for Jerry Leon Coker at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 18 at Pollard United Methodist Church in Tyler. Jerry passed away Tuesday, July 14 at the age of 86. Jerry was born March 24, 1934 to Ralph Leon and Connie Lee Coker in Tyler, Texas. Jerry attended Tyler schools and made his living as an independent petroleum Landman.
He belonged to Cedar Street Methodist Church and later in life joined Pollard United Methodist Church. He enjoyed classical music, dabbling in the stock market, and traveling, but his greatest enjoyment and fulfillment came from work. He was awarded Petroleum Landman of the Year and the Pioneer Award from the East Texas Association of Petroleum Landmen. Jerry was also known for his wit.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Inez; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and April Coker; son-in-law, Frank Cuca; grandchildren, Amy Landsberger, Chad Cuca, Matt Coker, and Natalie McClure; and great-grandchildren, Luke and Kate Landsberger, Kipson Coker, and Evelyn and Olivia McClure.
He was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Billie Jean Felts Coker; as well as his daughters, Carol Coker Cuca and Cathy Coker McClendon.
