Tommy Hollis 

Jacksonville native Tommy Hollis appeared on Broadway in dramas and musicals. 

On this date in 1990, he was performing as Avery in “The Piano Lesson.” He reprised the role in a TV movie adaptation in 1995.  

 He also was seen in “Seven Guitars” (1996), “Ragtime” (1998) and “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” (2001). 

 He died in 2001 at age 47 from complications of diabetes.

— 2000: Jacksonville native Lee Ann Womack’s “I Hope You Dance” hits No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

— 2000: Linden native Don Henley’s “Inside Job” peaks at No. 7 on the Billboard Top Album Sales chart.

— 1994: Mineola native Noble Willingham appears in “CIty Slickers II: The Legend of Curly’s Gold” starring Billy Crystal and Daniel Stern.
