Letters to the Editor

We were just 20 or so trillion dollars in debt. Now we are about $23 trillion in debt. I understand they want to put us deeper in debt by offering more money to help out. It is great to help people now during this crisis, but where does the money come from? Our politicians (I do not call them representatives) spend money like it grows on trees. A while back they cut taxes (income) and spent more money we do not have. You cannot cut income and increase spending when you are up to your — — in debt. During that time they increased the budget for the military, which is good especially if we had it, and then took money from the military to pay for a wall that Mexico was supposed to pay for.

We need to get rid of our idiot politicians that we now have and elect some hopefully better ones. We cannot keep spending money we do not have. It seems to me we will eventually go bankrupt, but I do not understand how we can stay so far in debt that we can hardly pay the interest. I feel for the next generation that will have to contend with it.

INCONVENIENCED OR IMPACTED

Most Popular

I read with interest the comments about the salon owner, Shelley Luther, and I believe the following question needs to be asked. Have you been inconvenienced or impacted by the economic shutdown? If you still have a paycheck coming in and your only frustration is you can’t find toilet paper, you have been inconvenienced. If you have lost your income, can’t get a job and faced with bankruptcy, then you have been impacted. Now I have only been inconvenienced but my sympathies lie squarely with those who have been impacted.

FALSE NARRATIVES

There are many false narratives spread by the liberals and their media cohorts to gain control over the people. We only need to be reminded of the fear they have instilled in us over the years. That fear is nothing but a liar. Let’s look at what these liberal fear mongers have told us over the years and let the reader figure out who is telling the truth:

2000: Y2K is going to destroy everything in American society.

2001: Anthrax is going to kill us all.

2002: West Nile virus is going to kill us all.

2003: SARS is going to kill us all.

2005: Bird flu is going to kill us all.

2006: E. coli is going to kill us all.

2008: The financial collapse is going to ruin the country and kill us all.

2009: Swine flu is going to kill us.

2012: The Mayan calendar predicts the end of the world.

2013: North Korea is going to start WWIII.

2014: Ebola is going to kill us all.

2015: ISIS is going to kill us all.

2016: Zika virus is going to kill us all.

2020: Coronavirus is going to kill us all.

The real truth is that FEAR will end up killing us and not the disease. Stop watching your television.

The overwhelming majority of people recover from coronavirus — Dr. Fauci.

NEED TABLES

During this time of social distancing, it has been so nice to be able to eat lunch at Bergfeld Park. I have noticed that the park is drawing increased attendance leading to a lack of picnic tables. Bergfeld Park is such a beautiful park with plenty of shade trees. Please, parks service, place additional tables at the park so more Tylerites can enjoy their social distancing.
