To whom it may concern:
I want my Monday morning paper back! I cannot download it on my iPad — tried on my smartphone — doesn’t work on that either.
It ruins the start of my Monday and start of the week. Please start printing the Monday edition again.
Sincerely
Josie Clyde
(Mrs. Bill Clyde)
How I love commentaries by Walter Williams. His editorial on today’s “antiquated” editorial methods, I’m in agreement with.
We studied great documents and had to memorize some. Living in the Boston area, we could all recite “Listen, my children and you shall hear of the midnight ride of Paul Revere.” When he hung the lanterns in the steeple of the Old North Church, it was “One if by land and two if by sea, and I on the opposite shore shall be.” He told the patriots with lanterns how the British would be coming.
As for bad behavior, there weren’t many. If you could not behave, you were sent to what was called “reform school.” Parental punishment was worse than what is called “corporal” punishment.
We studied American and world History, algebra I and II, geometry, biology, chemistry, English and a foreign language for four years to be admitted to a college. The languages taught were French, Italian, Spanish and Latin. The first year of study started in the ninth grade.
Ask a graduating senior what is the “holocaust.” See if they can tell you anything about what took place, where or by whom did it pertain to.
