TYLER — Private graveside services for Doris Jean Shanklin, 83, of Tyler, will be held on Friday, May 1, 2020 at Cathedral In The Pines Cemetery with Elder Ron Shultz officiating, under the direction of Jackson’s Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home.
Doris passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 in Tyler.
She was born September 16, 1936 in Bogata to Johnny and Jesse Leon Wilson Blankenship.
Doris worked for the City of Tyler and retired in 1979. She was a member of Shiloh Road Church of Christ and was a member of the Primetimers. She moved to Houston and worked for Brown and Root.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Shanklin.
Doris is survived by sons, Mark Walker and wife Kim of Killeen and Michael Walker and wife Deborah of Arlington; daughter, Regina McCoy of Tyler; grandchildren, Mandy and Justin Anderson, Jeff and Rhoda Walker, Kimberly Walker of Killeen, Brian and Brittney Walker, Miranda and Dewayne Modisette of Ft. Worth, Colin Walker of Arlington, Marissa and Daran Dorman of Tyler and Clay McCoy of Dallas; thirteen great-grandchildren; Step-daughters, Karen Beasley of Tyler, Barbara Smith of Athens and Billie Rich of Austin; numerous nieces and nephews and all her very dear friends.
