Softball: TJC hits six home runs, Stotyn throws no-hitter in doubleheader sweep of Angelina

BULLARD — The Tyler Junior College Apache Ladies used dominant pitching and hitting to sweep Angelina College, 8-0 and 16-1, in the Region XIV opener Wednesday at The Brook Hill School.
In the opener, Dakota Stotyn pitched a no-hitter. Stotyn had three strikeouts and a walk in the five-inning contest.

Maleah Olvera and Bailey Krolczyk both homered. Olvera added a double and four RBIs. Krolczyk added a single, and Tanjala Smith had two singles.
Kaylee Berdoll took the loss, allowing five runs on four hits in two-thirds of an inning.
In the second game, Olvera homered twice, and Korlczyk and Smith also went deep in the 16-1 rout.
Angelina actually took a 1-0 lead on a solo home run by Sara Mayes in the top of the first, but Tyler responded with two runs in the bottom of the first, five in the second, six in the third and three in the fourth.
Olvera had six RBIs and scored four times. Krolczyk added two singles and drove in three runs.
Sloane Johnson had a double, and Alandria Kim added two singles.

Mayes was 2-for-2 for Angelina. Her home run tied her for the nation’s lead with 11.
Hannah Frank pitched four innings for TJC and allowed one run on three hits with five strikeouts. Grason Long gave up a hit with two strikeouts in one inning of work.
With the six home runs on Wednesday, Tyler now has 47 on the season, which is tied for second in the country.
No. 5 TJC (21-3, 2-0) will host Weatherford in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. on Monday.
