Trombonist Robin Eubanks helps jazz students find their groove

Saxaphonist Zach Phillips  sings with the Sulphur Springs jazz band at the Jazzfest competition hosted by TJC at Whitehouse High School.

Grammy Award-winning trombonist Robin Eubanks worked with jazz bands from area schools throughout the day Thursday and then performed with Tyler Junior College jazz ensembles.

He will work with more schools and perform again on Friday and perform with the TJC jazz students at 7:30 p.m.

Eubanks is the clinician and featured performer at the TJC Jazz Festival taking place in the auditorium at Whitehouse High School.

After each jazz performs, Eubanks will give them feedback. Performances of the jazz bands by the schools and the concert feature the TJC ensembles are all free and open to the public.

• 10 a.m.: Chapel Hill High School

• 11 a.m.: Robert E. Lee High School — 1

• 1 p.m.: Robert E. Lee High School — 2

• 2 p.m.: Brownsboro High School

• 3 p.m.: Moore MST Magnet School

• 4 p.m. Whitehouse High School

7:30 p.m.: TJC Jazz Ensembles
