Thelma Lee “Doll” Camp
HIDE-AWAY LAKE — February 25, Thelma Lee “Doll” Camp slipped peacefully from this life, and into the awaiting arms of her precious George, Sherry Ann, and Jesus, her Lord and Savior.
Lee, or Doll as she was known to friends and family, was born November 29, 1929 in Beaumont, TX to Robert and Christine Mull Bridges. Having been born during the Great Depression, she learned that life and all it entails is a gift and lived as such.
Lee was a world traveler and treasured her time in other countries, learning the languages and cultures, so to honor those who welcomed her. With her husband and love of her life, George, and her precious pup, Chila, Lee lived in Saudi Arabia for ten years, where she was honored to employ Hamza, her loyal attendant and dear friend.
For years, Lee was an exceptional interior designer for Sunniland Furniture Stores in Houston and is likely redecorating Heaven now! Upon retirement, Lee and George made their home in Hide-A-Way (more than 40 years for Lee) on the lake, where they loved their home, view, friends, and community.
Welcoming their Doll to her Heavenly home were her beloved husband, George Camp and only child, Sherry Ann Burch (giver of Lee’s Nickname, Doll.) Also waiting for Lee were her parents, Robert and Christine Bridges; dear companion, Woody Woodring; Aunts Ruby Kay Martin and Avis Jones; and Cousin Mary Frances Polasek; and her precious Poodles, Chila and Chu-Chu.
Left to cherish Lee’s larger-than-life memories and love are her Niece, Carole Jean Barnard; Cousins, Dolly Herndon, Marlene Bacon, Joe Jones, and Kay Joyce; like-family, Kay Hulin, Liam and Amanda Hulin & children, Katie Hulin, and Tessa and Keith Miller & children; dear friends, Roger and Marilyn Caudill, Bill and Pat Kashouty, Diane Polley, Sylvia and Ron Bogard, Jennifer Featherston, Kathy Self, and Kim Houser; and numerous other friends and neighbors.
At Lee’s request, there will be no funeral nor memorial service; however she did ask that anyone wishing to do so, please donate to Pets Fur People in Tyler.
