Seniors’ Day: UT Tyler wins final home game of season

UT Tyler coach Louis Wilson’s starting unit included all seniors on Saturday and the formula worked as the Patriots celebrated Senior Day with a 77-69 victory over Eastern New Mexico in a Lone Star Conference basketball game at the Herrington Patriot Center.

In the first game, the Patriot women fell to the Greyhounds 81-46.



The Patriots are on the road for their final two contests — Arkansas-Fort Smith in Fort Smith, Arkansas (Thursday) and Oklahoma Christian in Oklahoma City (Saturday, Feb. 29). ENMU plays host to Cameron on Thursday in Portales, New Mexico.

MEN

The senior starting five included: guard Ty Glover of San Bernardino, California (San Bernardino HS); guard/forward Xavier Fogle of Houston (Clear Lake HS); guard Bradley Mason of Frisco (Frisco HS); forward Omar Mohamed of Denton (Ryan HS) and guard Tevin Brown of Pine Bluff, Arkansas (Watson Chapel HS).

Glover, the 6-7 transfer from Alaska-Fairbanks, hit for 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds with three steals. He was 5 of 6 from the free throw as the Patriots hit 30 of 36 free throw attempts.

The other seniors honored were guard Jared Jenkins of Grand Prairie (Irving Nimitz HS) and forward Jerekius Davis of Jackson, Mississippi (Provine HS).

Junior guard Micah Fuller also had a standout game for the Patriots (8-17, 5-15) with 21 points, including 14 of 15 from the free throw line. He added four rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Other key contributors for UT Tyler were junior Ansu Sesay (13 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals) and sophomore Darius Alford (10 points).

Also scoring for the Patriots were Fogle (7), Jenkins (4) and Mason (2).

Devin Pullum led the Greyhounds (7-18, 7-13) with 26 points, while Brandon Meadows added 10 points and eight rebounds.

WOMEN

Coach Jeannette Mosher’s only senior on the women’s squad is guard Beezy Birchette (Killeen, Shoemaker HS) and she scored six points and grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists.

Aubree Adams led the Patriots (3-21, 1-19) with 13 points. Others scoring for UT Tyler were Tyreesha Blaylock (11), Kelsey Crouse (9) and Carah Burdette (7).

The Greyhounds (18-8, 12-8) broke out to a 26-8 first quarter lead and led 47-20 at halftime.

Natalie DeLonge led ENMU with 20 points with Zamorye Cox (15) and Taylee Rippee (12) right behind.
