Services set for longtime Tyler business owner Bill Day

Bill R. Day, of Tyler, the owner of automotive-related businesses, died Tuesday. He was 84.
His company, Bill Day Tire Centers, which has two locations in Tyler and one each in Jacksonville and Longview, is observing its 49th anniversary. He also owned race cars and a company that supplied parts to the automotive racing industry.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway. Graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Cemetery, 2400 S. Donnybrook Ave., with the Rev. Gerry Giles officiating.
Day was born on July 12, 1935, in Tyler to William Leroy and Cleta Millington Day. He graduated from Chapel Hill High School and served in the U.S. Air Force and then Air Force Reserve. He married Martha Henry in 1959 and was a member of Marvin United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita Day, and is survived by his wife and his daughters, Janet Day Sheffield and Cindy Day.
The family requests that donations be made to The Hospice of East Texas Foundation, The Salvation Army of Tyler, Marvin United Methodist Church Missions or a charity.
