LUCAS — Logan Francis hit for a game-high 38 points as the Tyler All Saints Trojans scored a 77-42 win over the Lucas Christian Warriors on Friday in a TAPPS District 3-4A boys basketball game.

The Trojans (6-13, 2-2) led 33-25 at halftime, but in the third quarter All Saints, sparked by MacLean Arnett’s first two baskets of the period, pulled away. Arnett hit a 3-pointer followed by bucket as the Trojans outscored the Warriors 27-9 in third quarter.

Kyle Patrick added 22 points for the Trojans with Arnett chipping in 10. Also scoring were DJ White (5) and Cullen Walker (2).

Francis had three 3-pointers with Patrick adding two, along with Arnett’s trey.

The Trojans connected on 15 of 24 free throw attempts with Lucas Christian (0-3) hitting 6 of 13.



The All Saints JV won 63-52.

All Saints hosts Dallas Shelton on Tuesday with the Lady Trojans playing first about 6 p.m.

NECHES 73, OAKWOOD 41

NECHES — Aaron Deckard scored 22 points and teammates John Snider and Carlos Quistian added 19 points each as the Neches Tigers defeated Oakwood 73-41 on Friday in a District 28-1A basketball game.

Neches improves to 15-7 overall and 6-2 in district.

LUFKIN 78, JOHN TYLER 39

LUFKIN — Natron Wortham hit for 16 points and Jordan Moore added 15 as the Lufkin Panthers bounced back from a loss to Pine Tree with a 78-39 win over John Tyler on Friday in a District 16-5A basketball game.

Malik Ray led John Tyler with 15 points.

Lufkin led 13-8 late in the first quarter before a 10-1 spurt that bridged the first and second quarters put it in control.

Zay Shankle hit a pair of 3-pointers in the stretch and Elijah Johnson also knocked down a long ball in the spurt that made it 23-9.

Leading 30-16, the Panthers put together an 11-2 run just before the half. Moore started the run with a driving layup and Johnson hit a trey to start the run.

After John Tyler’s Phillip Moore put back a miss, Wortham hit a pair of jumpers and KaVorick Williams made two free throws.

The Lions’ Ray hit a free throw just before the half, but Lufkin carried a 41-19 lead into the break.

The lead hovered around 20 points before Lufkin delivered the knockout punch at the end of the third quarter with 13 unanswered points.

Other Lufkin scorers were Shankle (13), Johnson (10), Christian Mumphery, T.K. Scott and Jackson Parks (6), Williams (4) and Hunter Jones (2).

Other John Tyler scorers were Sean O’Neal (8), Darrell Warren (7), Jerome Jones (4), Elijah Thomas (2) and Phillip Moore (2) and D’Jonte Henderson (1).

The Lions (5-14) lost their third straight game to fall to 2-3 in district.

Lufkin (18-8, 3-2) hosts Hallsville on Tuesday, while JT visits Jacksonville.

GRACE 64, BISHOP GORMAN 51

Three Cougars scored in double figures, led by Luke Jenz with 17 points, as Tyler Grace Community defeated Tyler Bishop Gorman 64-51 on Friday in a TAPPS District 3-5A basketball game at GCS.

Miles Minnick led the Crusaders with 28 points.

Tyler Hageman (14 points) and Nathan Luce (11) were also in double digits for the Cougars. Also scoring for Grace were Luke Smith (7), Jayden Venable (6), Garrett Vasso (5) and Jacob Tucker (4).

Others scoring for Gorman were Giancarlo Petosa (7), Grant McInnis (4), Chris Green (3), Sid Cleofe (1) and Brett Petrakian (1).

BROOK HILL 51, DALLAS CHRISTIAN 36

MESQUITE — TyJuan Cannon, Noah Langemeier and Joseph Johnson combined for 39 points in leading the Bullard Brook Hill Guard to a 51-36 victory over the Dallas Christian Chargers on Friday in a TAPPS District 3-5A basketball game.

Cannon led the way with 14 points, followed by Langemeier (13) and Johnson (12). Others Guard players scoring were Chandler Fletcher (6), William Roberts (4) and Grayson Murry (2).

Cannon and Johnson each hit two 3-pointers with Langemeier adding one trey.

Joseph Yarbrough led the Chargers (12-9, 0-1) with 13 points. He was followed by Zaileon Clark (6), Maximus Gallimore (6), Johnny Morris (5), Chaz Boyd (3), Brett Judd (2) and Collin Beene (1).

Brook Hill (13-8, 1-1) plays host to Garland Brighter Horizons on Tuesday.

VAN 63, ATHENS 41

VAN — The Van Vandals opened District 14-4A play with a 63-41 win over the Athens Hornets on Friday.

Van led 31-26 at halftime and put the game away by outscoring the Hornets 20-4 in the third quarter to take a 51-30 advantage.

PJ Brooks led the Vandals (13-7, 1-0) with 24 points. Other Vandals scoring were Javonta Thomas (9), Austin Mitchell (7), Reeve Hughes (6), Aiden Carter (6), Hunter Hutchins (5), Jayden Jacobs (4) and Nick Dorner (2).

Van hosts Canton on Tuesday, while Athens hosts Brownsboro.

CANTON 48, MABANK 27

CANTON — Ja’Braylon Pickens scored 19 points to help power the Canton Eagles to a 48-27 win over the Mabank Panthers on Friday in a District 14-4A basketball game.

Others scoring for Canton (14-9, 1-0) were Justice Collier (11), Cooper Smith (7), Leyton Tidwell (6), Nick Fenner (3) and Braden Hawkins (2).

Cade Bell led the Panthers (5-12, 0-1) with 13 points. Others scoring for Mabank were Caleb Goforth (5), Connor Smith (4), Landry Johnson (3) and Davontae Lowe (2).

Canton visits Van on Tuesday, while Mabank hosts Wills Point.

HENDERSON 69, CHAPEL HILL 63

HENDERSON — Markell Washington scored 28 points and Caleb Medford added 14 as the Henderson Lions held off the Chapel Hill Bulldogs 69-63 on Friday in a District 16-4A boys basketball game.

Keyjun Thomas led the Bulldogs with 18 points with Jarell Hunter adding 10. Also scoring for Chapel Hill (1-3) were Chance King (9), Jared Jones (9), KJ Ford (7), Decorrian Wofford (7) and Tyson Berry (1).

Chapel Hill visits Gilmer on Tuesday with Henderson (4-1) hosting Bullard.

KILGORE 53, BULLARD 37

KILGORE  — Jeremiah Hoskins tossed in 19 points, Rowdy Riecke added 12 for the Bulldogs and Kilgore moved to 4-1 in district play with a 53-37 win over Bullard in District 16-4A.

C.J. Ingram added nine points for Kilgore. Jake Thompson finished with six points, Kaden Thrower three and Dee VanZant and Thomas Hattaway two apiece.

CUMBERLAND 59, GILMER 47

GILMER — Four Knights hit in double figures as Tyler Cumberland Academy scored a 59-47 win over Gilmer on Friday in a District 16-4A basketball game.

Christopher Hill led the Knights (4-1) with 16 points, followed by Chaderion Daniels (13), Ethan Montgomery (12) and Nic Holmes (10). Others scoring for Cumberland were Dayun Mitchell and Jaylon Gray with four points apiece.

Cumberland plays at Longview Spring Hill on Tuesday, while Gilmer hosts Chapel Hill.

WHITE OAK 58, SABINE 43

WHITE OAK — Brian Williams netted 18 points as the White Oak Roughnecks grabbed a 58-43 win over the Sabine Cardinals here at E.B. Carrington Gymnasium in District 16-3A.

Williams was one of three Roughnecks to hit deuces. Carson Bower pitched in a dozen and Dustin Covington added 10. Gunner Solis finished with nine points and five rebounds. Landon Anderson had five points and Gavin Bzdic four.

Sabine was led by Savoy Goodwyn’s 14 points and seven from AJ Gresham.

White Oak (10-12, 4-1) ventures to Winona Tuesday.

GLADEWATER 71, HARMONY 62

HARMONY — Eli Kates’ 24 points paved the way for the Gladewater Bears in a 71-62 win over the Harmony Eagles.

Kates was joined in double digits by DJ Allen’s 13.

Logan Baker’s 18 points and six rebounds led the Eagles in a losing effort. Jax Wilburn also found his way into twin figures with 16 points.

Carson Helpenstill netted four points with six rebounds. Sam Ross also tallied four points with five steals. Evan Patterson had four, Blaze Phillips and Matthew Scott both had three.

Harmony hosts Sabine Tuesday.

ARP 68, WINONA 54

WINONA — Arp outscored Winona by 10 points in the fourth quarter to salt away a 68-54 win over the Wildcats on Friday in a District 16-3A basketball action on Friday.

Tren Jones led the Tigers (12-4, 5-0) with 16 points with Johnathan Blackwell adding 15. Others scoring for Arp were Daniel Clary (13), Elijah Maudlin (10), Kadaylon Williams (6), Zachariah Mauldin (6) and Colton Birdsong (2).

Cameron Smalls led Winona (2-3) with 19 points while Ashton Smith had 18. Also scoring for the Wildcats were Nick Garrett (9), Jordan Benson (4), Kendrick Peavy (3) and Arimon Ford (1).

Arp hosts Troup on Tuesday with Winona hosting White Oak.

TROUP 43, WEST RUSK 39, OT

NEW LONDON — Troup outscored West Rusk in overtime by four to score a 43-39 District 16-3A win over West Rusk on Friday.

The Raiders (15-8, 2-3) led 20-19 entering the fourth quarter. In the final period, Troup outscored WR 15-14 to force overtime at 34-34. In the extra period, Troup had nine points to the West Rusk’s four.

Kedrick Frazier led Troup (19-7, 4-1) with 14 points while Bracey Cover added 10. Others scoring for Troup were Grayson Driggs (8), Matthew Castillo (5), Logan Womack (5) and Blake Wood (1).

Cover had two 3-pointers with Womack and Castillo adding one each.

Talon Winings led the Raiders with 11 points. Also scoring for West Rusk were Jaxon Farquhar (8), Myles Foster (6), Gavin Smith (5), Jamal Ford (4), Jimmie Harper (3) and D.K. Anthony (2).

Winings hit two 3-pointers, while Harper and Farquhar had one apiece.

West Rusk won the JV game 44-16.

Troup visits Arp on Tuesday with West Rusk hosting Gladewater.

BIG SANDY 68, OVERTON 14

BIG SANDY — The Big Sandy Wildcats posted a 27-point first quarter and that would be all they needed in what turned out to be a 68-14 victory over the Overton Mustangs on Friday in District 16-2A.

Carter Oswalt and Dakarai Menefee each tallied 15 points, Joshua Shipman finished with 11, Sean Gregory eight, Brian Pullum eight, Kedron Brown six, Caden Minter four and Zack Gregory one.

Big Sandy improves to 5-0 in district and 17-5 overall.

UNION GROVE 65, CARLISLE 43

UNION GROVE — Racking up a combined 45 points in the second and third periods paved the way for a 65-43 Union Grove win over Carlisle in District 16-2A.

The Lions (18-5, 3-1) placed nine players in the scorebook led by Kole Burns’ 11 points. Cooper Vestal followed with nine, Matthew Bower nine, Carson Daniels eight, Chase Mead eight, Cannon Cowan six, Noah Mayhan six, Elijah Baker five and Gannon Smith two.

Carlisle was led in defeat by Carlos DeLeon’s 12 points and Jonathan Fraser’s 11. Also in the books, Brett Roland seven, Ja’Cori Parker seven, Louie Garza three and Vic Camoncho two.

Union Grove is at Hawkins Tuesday.
