As part of Kroger’s Zero Hunger, Zero Waste initiative, volunteers will prepare more than 5,000 boxes of nonperishable food items across East Texas, North Texas and Louisiana. The boxes will be donated through the annual Souper Bowl of Caring hunger-relief campaign.

Locally, the volunteers will prepare 1,000 boxes at the East Texas Food Bank, 3201 Robertson Road, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday that will be sent to East Texas Kroger stores for consumers to purchase for donation beginning Monday through Super Bowl Sunday on Feb. 2.

Kroger has stores in East Texas communities, including Palestine and Henderson.
