Texas College Basketball: Steers win, Lady Steers fall against Rust College

Dominique Phelgm, a senior from Houston, hit for 28 points and Demetrious Fitzpatrick, a sophomore from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, added 19 as the Texas College Steers ran to a 105-83 victory over Rust College on Thursday in a non-conference basketball game at Gus F. Taylor Gymnasium.
In the first game, the Lady Steers fell to Rust 72-50 in their opening game.
Others in double figures for the Steers were Christian Bryant (14 points, 5 assists), Michael Walker (11 points, 7 rebounds), Travion Wright (11 points, 4 steals) and Trevon Donnell (10 points).
Fitzpatrick also had five assists.
Ahshakia White, a sophomore from Dallas, led the Lady Steers with 12 points, while Kaylee Gaddis, a senior from Rowlett, chipped in 11.
The Steers (2-0) hit the road for a Monday game against Tougaloos College in Jackson, Mississippi. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
