Swimming: Lee’s Caroline Richbourg wins two golds

Junior Caroline Richbourg won two individual golds during Saturday’s Tyler Lee Swim Meet at the TISD Aquatic Center.

Richbourg won the 100 individual medley and the 50 backstroke in the meet involving Lee, Rockwall and Rockwall-Heath.



The Lady Raiders took the bronze in the 200 freestyle relay. Team members include: Richbourg, freshman Lorilai Walker, junior Lauren McClintock and freshman Olivia Terburgh.

As for the Red Raiders, Gage Moncrief-Judd took the silver in the 100 freestyle, while teammate Cole Cargile was third.

Other individual silvers were earned by Hayden McCullough (50 freestyle) and Davis Oster (50 butterfly).

Also taking individual bronze were Cargile (50 butterfly) and Christian Olivarez (50 breastroke).

LEE VS. NACOGDOCHES

In the Sept. 19 meet against Nacogdoches at the TISD Aquatic Center, Lee won the boys dual 91-79 and the Lady Raiders won 113-57.

The Lady Raiders took first place in all three relay events, first through fifth in the 100 free and first through third in the 500 free.

Individual event winners were senior Katie Shuler (200 free), Richbourg (200 IM, 100 free), McClintock (50 free) and Terburgh (500 free).

In the boys meet, freshman Griffin Baker won both 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle; junior Chase Fields took first in 200 individual medley; and Moncrief-Judd won gold in the 100 breaststroke. The Red Raiders won the 200 freestyle relay.

QUAD MEET

In the Tyler Lee Quad meet on Sept. 26, the Lady Raiders and Red Raiders both won against four teams.

In the girls competition: Lee 146, Longview 11; Lee 132, Lufkin 28; Lee 121, Grace Community 30; and Lee 137, Whitehouse 28.

The Lady Raiders swept all three relay events with the “B” team taking second in two of the three relays. Freshmen Walker took first in the 200 freestyle with Richbourg winning the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Sophomore Caroline Bogue won the 100 butterfly.

In the boys competition: Lee 153, Longview 9; Lee 136, Lufkin 33; Lee 134, Grace Community 26; and Lee 139, Whitehouse 30.

The Red Raiders’ “A” and “B” teams were first and second in all three relay events. Fields won the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly with McCullough winning the 100 Freestyle. Baker won the 100 Backstroke.

Lee returns to action on Saturday, hosting Texarkana Texas High and Richardson J.J. Pearce. The meet has an 11 a.m. start at the TISD Aquatic Center, 3013 Earl Campbell Parkway, Tyler, 75701.
