PRICE — Scoring on 10 of its 11 possessions, the Carlisle Indians had little trouble dispatching Overton, ripping apart the Mustangs 76-0 at Arrowhead Stadium. This was the first win of the season for Carlisle, which came into the game 0-2. Overton fell to 0-3.
Carlisle’s defense was equally impressive, holding the Indians to one first down and minus 10 yards of total offense in the first half. The Mustangs could only muster two first downs in the game.
Indian Quarterback Carlos Deleon delivered three touchdown strikes on three consecutive possessions to three different receivers. He kept the Mustangs defense guessing by tucking the ball away and running for a game total of 127 yards.
Jamion Turner racked up 152 all-purpose yardage, catching passes and running the ball from the backfield. To jump start the second half, Turner broke a pair of tackles and returned the kickoff 78-yards for a touchdown.
The Indians were up 62-0 when Louie Garza snatched up a fumble deep in Mustangs territory and stepped into the end zone. This was Garza’s second touchdown after having caught a Deleon pass from four yards out.
It didn’t take long for Carlisle to score again when Ignacio Villanueva took a handoff from backup quarterback Brett Roland and outraced the Mustang defenders to the end zone.
