Sabine’s BJ Stidham and Chapel Hill’s Adrian Lacy both led their teams to big wins during the opening week of the high school football season.

For their efforts, Stidham and Lacy have been selected as the Tyler Morning Telegraph Offensive Player and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.

Stidham carried the ball 25 times for 311 yards with two touchdowns in Sabine’s 34-3 victory over Carlisle.

In the spring, Stidham won his second consecutive powerlifting state title, setting the Class 3A state record with a total of 1,210 pounds (465 squat, 275 bench, 470 deadlift).

Lacy was a key player in helping Chapel Hill record its first shutout since Oct. 22, 2010, with a 42-0 win over Crandall.

Lacy sacked the quarterback five times and finished with a total of eight tackles in the contest.
