The Tyler Police Department is investigating an aggravated sexual assault at a Tyler apartment complex.

Tyler police responded at about 10 a.m. Wednesday to a call at Tanglewood Apartments on Chimney Rock concerning an aggravated sexual assault.

Officers spoke to a middle-aged female who told them a man entered her apartment door and confronted her with a handgun, demanding money. The suspect then sexually assaulted her and stole her wallet, according to police.

The suspect was described as a young black male with a thin build and wearing all black clothing. 

Anyone with information about the crime is urged to contact the Tyler Police Department, at 903-531-1000, or Crimestoppers at 903-597-CUFF (903-597-2833). Crimestoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest and charges filed in this case or any felony case.
