Tyler area residents will have an opportunity to see a wide variety of styles of home construction and trends in home design during the nine-day 66th annual Parade of Homes sponsored by the Tyler Area Builders Association.

The parade, which will open Saturday and run through June 9, will showcase 29 newly constructed homes in the Tyler area, Flint, Bullard and Whitehouse. Some builders have more than one entry. At least 24 builders will be represented in the show, all members of the TABA.

People going on the tour of homes, which were constructed within the last year, will be able to talk to builders as well as see the homes. The parade will provide a chance for anyone planning to build, buy or remodel a home to check out the latest things and ideas on the market.

Besides different construction styles for homes, special features of the homes in the Parade of Homes — such as the latest in home appliances, technology and energy efficiencies — will also be displayed.

Libby Simmons, TABA executive vice president, said, “This year’s Parade offers everything from townhomes to boathouses. Visitors can expect to see repurposed architectural elements, infinity-edge pools, a theater room, a negative-edge hot tub, home automation technology, remote-controlled patio shades and more.”

Steve Latson, Parade of Homes chairman, said, “The Parade will offer home styles for everyone’s taste, including industrial modern farmhouse, traditional, French-country, modern French Tudor, craftsman, Hill Country, modern contemporary and English manor.”

In an unusual development, this year’s show will present two boathouses on Lake Tyler along with other styles of homes.

The TABA started the Parade of Homes in 1953 to showcase home construction work of all its members.

Homes will be open for touring on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Sundays from 2 to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m., and on Friday from 3 to 8 p.m.

Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. A ticket covers admission to all houses on the tour, which may be visited in any order on any day of the Parade of Homes. More than 4,000 people toured the Parade last year.

A portion of this year’s parade proceeds will benefit local charities, including Christian Homes and Family Services, Kingdom Life Academy and The Cure Starts Now.
