WHITEHOUSE — Chanlee Oakes tossed a one-hitter as the Rains LadyCats won their 17th straight game, a 7-0 decision over Mineola on Friday in a Class 3A softball regional quarterfinals contest at Whitehouse Sports Complex.

Rains (28-1) advances to meet either White Oak or Hughes Springs next week in the regional semifinals.

Mineola, which was playing with just nine players on the roster after injuries, ends its season at 15-13.

Oakes struck out six and walked one.

Mineola’s Anna Westberry pitched well, allowing six hits and striking out six. The Lady Jackets were hurt by four errors. Westberry also got the only hit for her team.



Rains scored a run in the second and three each in the fifth and seventh innings.

Elissa Elliott had two hits for the LadyCats, a single and double with two RBIs. Sarah Coffman added a triple with Leo Terry, Presley McAree and Jasmine Mott hitting singles.

Mott also had two RBIs with Terry, Coffman and Oakes adding an RBI each.

McAree and Catrin Hoffman each scored two runs with Terry, Mott and Elliott crossing the plate once each.
