TJC Baseball: Apaches meet Panola Monday at Mike Carter Field

The No. 2 Tyler Junior College Apaches baseball team will try to break a four-game skid when they meet Panola College on Monday at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Mike Carter Field. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
The 36-14 Apaches of NJCAA Division III lost a three-game set to NJCAA Division II No. 1 LSU-Eunice (46-5) over the weekend in Eunice, Louisiana. The Bengals won 15-3, 10-0 and 11-1.

In the first game on Friday at Bengal Stadium, the game was tied at 3-3 before LSU-E scored eight runs in the fourth inning to break the game open and win 15-3. Jason Bellew had a double for TJC with Miguel Vega hitting two singles. Adding singles were Ty Meissner, Nick Williby, Jaren Burks and Cade Watson. Jacob Johnson and Cade Watson had RBIs with Vega, Johnson and Williby scoring runs. Peyton Miller took the loss on the mound.
In the 10-0 contest on Saturday, Heath Hood led the Apaches with two hits, a triple and single. Jacoby Bogue, Meissner, Fiver Trimble and Kendall Price all had singles. Christian Grigsby took the loss on the hill.
In the second game of the DH, the Bengals won 11-1. TJC had four singles in the contest, one each by Williby, Vega, Tyler Griffin and Watson. Williby drove in Griffin. Cooper Rawls took the loss on the mound.
The Bengals are scheduled to meet Chipola in a three-game series beginning Saturday in Marianna, Florida.
Following Monday’s game, the Apaches travel to Beeville to meet Region XIV rival Coastal Bend in a three-game set (2 p.m. Thursday, 2 p.m. Friday, noon Saturday). The teams are tied for the conference lead at 2-2.
