Letters to the Editor

I have always appreciated the Tyler newspaper.
I had intended to write the new owners and tell them I was glad to see they did not discontinue printing the Daily Bible Verse. Our Tyler paper is the only newspaper I have seen this done in.
Most likely if you took a vote on this issue at would overwhelming be the verse be continued.
Thank you,
W.A. Taber
Concerning the Bible verse on the front page: I believe Mr. Ellerin is totally out of line. I don’t care for the sports page so I just don’t read it. Perhaps Mr. Ellerin should just do the same!

Dear Editor,
I would like to respond to the comment by Mr. Bruce Ellerin about the Bible verse in the April 8, 2019, Sunday newspaper.
I have subscribed to the Tyler Morning Telegraph for many, many years and enjoyed it. I look forward each day to the Bible verse that has always been in it. It is the first thing that I head, gets my day started. I get my housework done, than I read the rest of the paper.
I would suggest to Mr. Ellerin to scan the rest of the paper and leave the Bible verse alone. We live in a great country and we are free to choose what we want to read or don’t want to read. I want the Bible verse in the paper, I think a lot of people enjoy it also. Thank you for allowing me to express my opinion.
Sincerely,
Ellen Ellis

Response to “Bible Verse in Newspaper”
It is sad someone is so filled with evil, that they can’t stand a small amount of righteousness.
A common sense understanding of our history proves the further we get from biblical principles, the further our society degrades. A bible verse that can be ignored is a far cry from “being hostile to American Democracy.” In fact it is foundational. Certainly I have to ignore many things in the media that I find offensive. Let’s keep the bible verse and have a touch of righteousness. It surely won’t hurt anyone who is striving to be a good neighbor.
