Softball Roundup: Whitehouse’s Maddie Wright tosses no-hitter; Big Sandy’s Jessica Parker throws perfect game

Whitehouse 10, Pine Tree 0

WHITEHOUSE  Maddie Wright tossed a no-hitter and drove in three runs to help power the Whitehouse LadyCats to a 10-0 win over Longview Pine Tree on Tuesday in a District 16-5A softball game.

Wright struck out six and walked three in the five-inning win over the Lady Pirates.

The LadyCats improve to 17-7-1 overall and 7-4 in district.

Makala Moore led Whitehouse with three hits, including two doubles. Maddie Wright had a single and double with Jadyn Gunn hitting a double. Adding singles were Kenzie Wright, Carly Cobb, Callie Smith and Caroline Smoot.



Gunn added two RBIs with Kenzie Wright, Moore and Smith driving in one each. Kenzie and Maddie Wright each scored three runs with Moore, Gunn, Smith and Jacie Chambless all crossing the plate once.

Big Sandy 17, Union Hill 0

BIG SANDY  Jessica Parker threw a three-inning perfect game as the Big Sandy LadyCats scored a 17-0 win over the Union Hill Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday in a District 19-2A softball game.

Parker struck out all nine UH batters.

Cheyenne Flores, Frida Ortiz and Beaunna Derrick each had three hits. One of Derrick’s hits was a triple with Morgan Collier hitting a double and a triple. Others with two hits were Gabby Beason and Parker. Tesla Schmidt and Faith Watts each had singles.

Derrick had four RBIs with Ortiz driving in three. Collier drove in two with Flores, Beason, Parker and Schmidt knocking in one each. 

Derrick and Flores each scored three runs with Ortiz, Parker, Destiny Haren and Watts scoring twice. Beason, Coliler and Schmidt each crossed the plate once.

Rusk 15, Palestine 0

PALESTINE — Alanna Goldsberry pitched a three-hit shutout as the Rusk Lady Eagles defeated the Palestine LadyCats 15-0 in a District 19-4A softball game on Tuesday.

Goldsberry struck out seven and walked one in the four-inning game.

Rusk pounded out 14 hits with Lauren Boudreaux and Faith Long belting homers. Boudreaux, Victoria Ivy, Emmy Shaw and Grace Young all had doubles.

Young and Ivy had three hits each with Shaw and Long adding two each. Kailee Millsap and Goldsberry each had singles.

Boudreaux drove in four runs with Emily Etheridge and Long driving in three each. Shaw had two RBIs with Young and Millsap adding RBIs.

Young, Ivy and Boudreaux each scored three runs with Shaw and Long crossing the plate twice. Millspa and Goldsberry each scored once.

Harmony 13, West Rusk 4

NEW LONDON  Harmony had 21 hits en route to a 13-4 win over the West Rusk Lady Raiders on Tuesday in a District 16-3A softball game.

Jenci Seahorn had a 5 for 5 night at the plate with two RBIs and three runs scored.

Analese Cano and Marlee Seahorn each had three hits with Kaylee Clemens, Delaynie Nash, Kinzee Settles and Alexa Makowsky contributing two hits apiece.

Cano, Hope Howard, Makowsky, Jenci Seahorn and Settles all had doubles. Katelyn Welborn added a single.

Other RBIs were from Nash (3), Welborn (2), Settles (1), Cano (1), Makowsky (1) and Marlee Seahorn (1). Others scoring runs were Clemens (3), Nash (2), Settles (1), Cano (1), Howard (1), Makowsky (1) and Marlee Seahorn (1).

Brooklyn Floyd had a homer for the Lady Raiders with Sydne Martin and Abby Hernandez hitting doubles. Floyd had two hits with Natalie Farrow, Makana Morton, Julie Waddell and Jamie Casey adding singles. Other RBIs were from Hernandez (1), Wadell (1) and Martin (1).

Floyd scored two runs with Farrow and Hernandez crossing the plate as well.

Cano got the win in the circle, going seven innings while allowing eight hits and four runs while striking out seven and walking one.

Hallsville 10, Lufkin 0

HALLSVILLE — Maddie Melton tossed a one-hit shutout, Hailey Krchnak homered, singled and drove in three runs and the Hallsville Ladycats rolled to a 10-0 win over Lufkin on Tuesday in a District 16-5A softball game.

Melton struck out four and did not walk a batter in five innings. Jaydin Ainsworth added a triple, single and RBI, and Anahi Ramirez, Lauren Anderson and Abby Dunagan all doubled for Hallsville. Molly Danna, Abby Dunagan and Lorena Ramirez had two hits and an RBI apiece, and Anahi Ramirez, Taylor Freeman and Anderson drove in a run apiece.

Spring Hill 10, Chapel Hill 7

NEW CHAPEL HILL — A seven-run fourth inning lifted the Spring Hill Lady Panthers to a 10-7 win over Chapel Hill on Tuesday in a District 16-4A softball game.

Avery Mercer and Jade Bowden both doubled for Spring Hill. Bowden added a single and finished with three RBI, and Mercer also singled and drove in a run. Samantha Schott had two hits and scored twice from the leadoff spot, and Kaycee Campbell also drove in a run.

Sparks pitched three innings, striking out one and walking three. Schott fanned three and walked four in four innings of work.

Henderson 10, Gilmer 1

GILMER — Seven Lady Lions got into the hit column, led by Milee Green’s double and two singles, as Henderson notched a 10-1 win over Gilmer on Tuesday in a District 16-4A softball game.

Madeline Wells, Kaylie Clark and Green all doubled for Henderson, with Wells, Maggi Dickerson, Trinity McAlister and Mikeya Washington finishing with two hits apiece. Kaylie Clark drove in two runs, and Wells, Green, Moriah Guerrero, McAlister, Trinity Sledge and Antalisha Brewster all drove in runs.

Maddie McCurry drove in the lone Gilmer run.

Wells struck out 12 without a walk for the pitching win. Madeline Barber struck out eight and walked six in the loss.

Rains 18, Edgewood 0

EDGEWOOD  Chanlee Oakes threw a two-hit shutout and was 4 for 4 at the plate with five RBIs in leading the Emory Rains LadyCats to an 18-0 win over Edgewood on Tuesday in a District 12-3A softball game.

Oakes tossed five innings with two strikeouts and no walks. She had two singles and two doubles. Elissa Elliott had two doubles and a single.

Alexis Kearney and Jasmine Mott had two hits for Rains with Presley McAree, Jaylee Sims and Erin Emig adding singles.

Other RBIs were from Mott (3), Sims (2), Heagen Steed (1), Elliott (1), Sarah Coffman (1), Skyler Monroe (1) and Kearney (1).

Scoring runs were McAree (4), Steed (3), Elliott (2), Coffman (2), Kearney (2), Emig (2), Mott (1), Catrin Hoffman (1) and Sims (1).

Bonnie Moses and Emma Kimbrough each had hits for Edgewood.

Troup 5, Sabine 2

TROUP — Troup scored three times in the bottom of the sixth to break a 2-2 deadlock en route to a 5-2 win over the Sabine Lady Cardinals on Tuesday in a District 16-3A softball game.

Lindsay Davis and Tiffany Lacy both doubled for Troup, with Davis adding a single and an RBI and Jessie Minnix driving in a run.

Calleigh King had two hits, and Mercedes Willett and Makenzie Cook drove in runs for Sabine.

Davis struck out 11 and walked one for the pitching win. King fanned two and walked one in 4.1 innings, and Callie Sparks struck out one and walked four in 1.2 frames in the loss for Sabine.

Prior to the game Troup celebrated Senior Night, honoring Tayler Vance, Tiffany Lacy and Emily Neel. Coach Sam Weeks said the trio have been part of the Troup program since they were freshmen.  She said Vance and Lacy will be entering the Army/National Guard in July, while Neel will be running track and cross country at SFA.

Troup is 16-7 overall and 9-2 in district. They will travel to White Oak on Friday.

White Oak 24, Arp 1

ARP — Bailey Owens hit a homer and Morgan Benge tossed a one-hitter as the White Oak Lady Necks scored a 24-1 win over Arp on Tuesday in a District 16-3A softball game.

The only hit Benge gave up was a solo homer to Katie Laird in the first inning.

Samantha McGrew was 5 for 5 for White Oak with three RBIs and three runs scored. She had four singles and a double.

Daphne Bogenschutz and Lexi Dodson had three hits apiece with Emma Purcell and Owens notching two each. Katlyn Barham, Riley Edmondson, Taylor Bellotte and Benge each had singles.

Owens and Purcell drove in four runs each with Bogenschutz and Dodson contributing three RBIs apiece. Others RBIs were from Edmondson (2), Benge (2), Barham (1) and Bellotte.

Scoring runs were Purcell (3), Owens (3), Bellotte (3), Benge (3), Bogenschutz (2), Renee Cook (2), Barham (1), Edmondson (1), Dodson (1), Savannah Wilkinson (1) and Brooklyn Schroeder (1).

Beckville 11, Overton 6

OVERTON  Ally LaGrone struck out 10 in a complete-game performance in the circle, Madisyn Bridges banged out three runs, scored twice and drove in two from the top spot in the order and Beckville notched an 11-6 win against Overton on Tuesday in a District 19-2A softball game.

Jaden McDaniel doubled twice, singled and drove in two runs, and Kinley Pepper and Haley Straubie both doubled for the Lady Bearcats. Pepper and Shelby Lindsey had two hits apiece, Shelley Pierce drove in three runs and Pepper added an RBI.

Union Grove 3, Carlisle 1

PRICE  Union Grove pushed across two runs in the top of the fifth and held on for a 3-1 win over Carlisle on Tuesday in a District 19-2A softball game.

Kasi Jones struck out three and did not walk a batter, giving up just three hits. Jones, Sydney Chamberlain and Madelynn Lacaze all had two hits for Union Grove, with Jocy Suarez and Mireya Evans driving in runs. Chamberlain and Evans had doubles.

Lani Green tripled, and Katelyn Winfrey drove in a run for Carlisle in the loss. Tori Esters struck out six, walked none and gave up one earned run.

Hawkins 18, New Summerfield 2

HAWKINS  Alyssa Eddington homered, singled and drove in two runs, Mariana Clark doubled and brought three runs home and Hawkins notched an 18-2 win over New Summerfield on Tuesday in a District 19-2A softball game.

Lynli Dacus added a double, single, two RBI and three runs scored from the top of the lineup. Josie Howard banged out three hits and drove in a run. Emma Williams had two RBI, and Lizzy Shipman, Jaci Owens and Makena Warren all added RBI.

Dacus struck out four and waked three in three innings for the pitching win.

Kerens 14, Cayuga 4

KERENS  Kaylee Reed had two home runs and two doubles to lead Kerens to a 14-4 win over Cayuga on Tuesday in a District 20-2A softball game.

Reed was 4 for 4 with three RBIs and four runs scored.

Madi Poland had a tirple and two RBIs to lead the LadyCats. Baylee Barrett, Jayci Cotton and Gracie Conrad all had doubles with Alexis Gray adding a single.

Cushing 5, Alto 1

CUSHING — Cushing scored twice in each of the first two innings, and took advantage of five Alto errors en route to a 5-1 win on Tuesday in a District 22-2A softball game.

For Alto in the loss, Ariel Perez and Abbie Teutsch doubled, Presley Griffith had two hits and Perez drove in a run.

Prince of Peace 1, Grace Community 0

CARROLLTON  Presley Johnston only gave up three hits but Carrollton Prince of Peace scored the only run of the game as the Lady Eagles defeated the Tyler Grace Community Lady Cougars 1-0 on Tuesday.

Hadley Brewer had a triple for Grace with Johnston adding a double. Brewer also had a single as did Maddie Flanery, Victoria Redding and McKayla Camp.
