First responders revived a Tyler man thought to be dead after his vehicle was pinned under an 18-wheeler on Loop 323 and U.S. Highway 271.

Police were called Friday shortly before 3 p.m. regarding the two-vehicle crash involving a Dodge Durango that had slid under a Family Dollar semitractor-trailer.

First responders pulled the vehicle from underneath the truck.

Tyler Police Department Public Information Officer Don Martin said EMS thought the man was dead, but learned he had been revived and taken to the hospital.

Martin said the man didn’t realize the truck was stopped when he hit the back of the trailer.

The man is believed to be in stable condition at a Tyler hospital.
