The annual dances are two favorite events for families in the Tyler area. This year’s theme was “Let’s Glow,” and attendees wore and waved glow sticks, which, along with the colorful flashing lights, illuminated the gymnasium.
Friday evening, moms took their 4-to 12-year-old sons out on the dance floor and danced the night away to old and new tunes. Saturday evening was for the daddy’s girls: 4-to 8-year-olds and 9-to 13-year-olds each had their own dances to bring their fathers to.
“The thing I enjoy most is seeing the excitement on the kids’ faces,” said Ora Nails, supervisor at the Glass Recreation Center. “Families will get one-on-one time with one another and gain an experience that they will never forget.”
Families dressed in semiformal attire for the special occasion and enjoyed refreshments and music from the DJ.
“Glass Recreation Center is a safe, family-oriented place to come to,” Nails said. “We want the community to know that we’re here for them.”
The Glass Recreation Center regularly hosts events and classes for the community. The center’s schedule is available on the city’s Parks and Recreation Department’s website here.
