Altra Federal Credit Union has announced that Steve Koenen has been promoted from executive vice president of retail operations to president and chief executive officer.

Koenen, who has worked for Altra Federal Credit Union for over 22 years, will succeed Jack Peplinski, who is retiring in April.

Koenen has over 30 years of banking knowledge and a strong proficiency in branch operations, sales, sales management, innovation, member experience and product design and delivery. 

He has a degree in finance from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse and completed the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. 

Accounting firm adds manager 

Royce Read has joined Prothro, Wilhelmi and Co., Certified Public Accountants as manager.

Royce has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from the University of Texas at Tyler. He became a Texas Certified Public Accountant in 2004.

He has 15 years of experience in tax and assurance services and preparing tax returns for industries.

He also is a graduate of Leadership Tyler Class 22.
