Johnny Paul Price, 77, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at his home in Houston. He was born March 6, 1941, in Dallas; then quickly adopted by J Paul Price and Addie Bracken Price who lived in Tyler, Texas. Johnny Paul was part of the first graduating class of Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler. He also graduated from Tyler Junior College and attended the University of Texas in Austin where he served as an intern for Governor John Connally. Johnny Paul was preceded in death by his two parents who he loved dearly. He is survived by his loving family including his three children- John Price Jr, Michael Price, and Sarah Price; his daughter-in-law and two grandchildren, Amy Price, Bella Price and Addie Price; his beloved sister and brother-in-law, Sally Price Fischer and James J. Fischer and their two children Samantha Price Fischer and JJ Fischer and their families; as well as his long-time friend, Susan Goldston. Johnny Paul was in the family oil & gas business his entire life. His business success afforded him the opportunity to support many charities and pursue some interests that were dear to his heart. He was an avid painter and possessed a rare gift to convey his feelings in multiple mediums with brush and canvas. He also enjoyed traveling and staying fit in his free time. Philanthropy was very important to Johnny Paul and helping causes in which he believed. He not only quietly helped countless individuals with different needs over the years; but also helped large charitable organizations including the Disabled American Veterans Association, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Samaritan’s Purse, InTouch Ministry, and many others. Notably, he provided hundreds of children a new lease on life through Operation Smile, providing funds to correct birth defects such as cleft palate. Most of all, he enjoyed taking in Bible doctrine and was a real student of the Word. Johnny Paul was a great father, brother, cousin and friend to many. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for those he loved. He will be missed by all. Johnny Paul’s celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy, Tyler, with Rev. J.P. Bryan officiating.
