Corrigan-Camden rushes past Winona 54-40

LONGVIEW — It was the Dohn Freeman show on Friday night at Lobo Stadium.
Freeman had touchdown runs of 15 and 26 yards, a recovered onside kick and a fumble recovery on defense, and that was just in the third quarter.

Freeman finished with 232 yards and four touchdowns rushing and a 37-yard touchdown pass to go along with his special teams and defensive plays as Corrigan-Camden advanced in the Class 3A Division II playoffs with a 54-40 win over Winona.
Freeman had some help from his backfield mate Ashton Jones, as well. Jones carried the ball 40 times for 270 yards and three scores for the Bulldogs (10-2), who will play Daingerfield in the regional round.
Winona led 7-0 after the first quarter. Dakota Pullum’s 11-yard touchdown run less than two minutes into the contest was the only scoring play of the opening frame.
The Bulldogs attempted a 27-yard field goal late in the first quarter, but it was blocked by Winona’s Zack Moore.
Corrigan-Camden grabbed the lead in the second quarter with touchdown runs by Jones (6 yards) and Freeman (3 yards).
Pullum connected with Keylon Kincade Jr. not long after Freeman’s score, but the extra point was no good, making the score 14-13.

With 1:48 left in the second quarter, Freeman had his only completion of the contest, finding Zack Ivie for a 37-yard touchdown. Just 17 seconds later, Pullum connected with Nick Garrett for a 63-yard scoring strike. The Wildcats went for two, but the pass was incomplete as Corrigan-Camden took a 21-19 lead into the locker room.
The Bulldogs went 61 yards on 10 plays on the opening drive of the third quarter, finishing with a 15-yard touchdown run by Freeman. Corrigan-Camden then attempted an onside kick, and it was recovered by Freeman, and Freeman capitalized with a 26-yard sprint to the end zone to make the score 35-19 with 4:21 left in the third quarter.
Freeman was at it again, this time recovering a fumble, which led to a 1-yard touchdown run by Jones to make it 41-19 heading into the final period.
