Amarillo freshman Shahada Wells sparks TJC over Brookhaven, 100-78, in men’s basketball opener

The Tyler Junior College Apaches opened their men’s basketball season with four players in double-figure scoring in a 100-78 win over Brookhaven on Friday in the annual TJC Tournament at Wagstaff Gymnasium.
Shahada Wells, a freshman from Amarillo, led the Apaches with 29 points and four 3-pointers. Cameron Johnson, a sophomore from Little Rock, Arkansas, added 15 points while Kieffer Punter and Jason Bush contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively. Bush is a freshman from Longview High School.
Tyler returns to action at 2 p.m. Saturday against Southwestern Christian College.
