The Eagles have now won four straight games and are now 5-3 overall and carry a 4-1 record in District 9-5A, Division II.
Lindale plays host to Longview Pine Tree at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Eagle Stadium.
Others receiving votes from all of the nominations received were: John Tyler running Roderick Hawkins Jr.; Whitehouse quarterback Flint Herrington; Tatum quarterback OB Jones; and Athens running back Jerquindon Taylor.
“Dillon has been a good leader for our team all year,” Lindale head coach Chris Cochran said. “Besides a few mistakes, he was very accurate to all of his receivers. He loves all of his receivers and offensive line, and when things get tough, they all look to him to lead his team through adversity. He has really come a long way since last season, and that can be attributed to all of his hard work this summer. We are very fortunate to have him as our quarterback.”
“Dillon kept Lindale rolling in district play with his performance,” Haugh said. “After eight games, Dillon is sitting in fourth in yards passing in East Texas, having passed for 1,958 yards and 19 TDs, and has a 70 percent completion percentage. Picking the ASB Player of the Year is going to be tough this year as we now have nine very worthy finalists.”
Previous winners are: Week 1, Peyton Kennedy, Whitehouse; Week 2, Haynes King, Longview; Week 3, Eligia Carter, Gladewater; Week 4, Jake Smith, Bishop Gorman; Week 5, Rhejhi Sherfield, Athens; Week 6, McGwire Martin, Canton; Week 7, Landry Lasseter, Bullard; and Week 8, Jayden Jacobs, Van.
