A Murchison man was indicted by the Smith County grand jury on a murder charge stemming from the death of his motorcycle passenger who died after a crash during a high-speed chase with law enforcement.

Sean Eammon Waite, 34, of Murchison, was arrested June 14 after he crashed his motorcycle and fled from police and deputies near Farm-to-Market Road 2661.

The crash caused his passenger, Alicia Ann Adams, 28, to be thrown from the motorcycle.

Deputies and a nurse at the scene provided first aid until EMS arrived. Adams was pronounced dead at the scene.

Waite fled the scene on foot, but was found and arrested minutes later, according to law enforcement officials.

He was arrested and taken to the Smith County Jail, where he originally was charged with evading arrest with a vehicle and driving while intoxicated. He also was wanted out of Denton County on two outstanding warrants for credit card or debit card abuse.

Smith County officials were able to obtain an arrest warrant from a Smith County judge charging Waite with murder as a result of Adams’ death.

Waite was booked into jail and his bond for the murder charge was set at $750,000.
