Young women from Tyler families are ladies-in-waiting in the Rose Festival Queen’s Court

Young women from Tyler families participate in the Texas Rose festival as ladies-in-waiting in the Rose Queen’s Court.

The women are featured during the Queen’s Coronation,  Rose Festival Parade and Queen’s Tea. 

Annabelle Dossett Deen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick James Deen, of Tyler, attends the University of Mississippi. She is an exercise science/pre-medicine major and is in Chi Omega sorority.

She also is in National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, a volunteer at the Memory Makers adult day care and is on the chancellor’s honor roll.

Her mother, Jennifer Garrett Deen, was a Queen’s Tea junior hostess and a lady-in-waiting. Her roles as a volunteer include Rose Parade liaison and the Rose Queen’s Coronation backstage dresser, makeup/hairdresser coordinator, wardrobe chairman and head costume coordinator. She has served on or chaired the following committees: Queen’s Tea, Kickoff Party, Queen’s Ball, Wardrobe Properties, Accessories, Escorts Party and Queen’s Summer Luncheon. She was the Texas Rose Festival Association’s associate director from 2014 to 2018 and has been a duchess sponsor and an escort sponsor.

Miss Deen’s father, Patrick James Deen Sr., was an escort and Strutter and is in Order of the Rose. 

Other family members who have participated in the festival include Patrick James Deen Jr., brother, escort and Strutter; Laura Garrett Jones, aunt, entertainer to the court and lady-in-waiting; and Sue Garrett, grandmother, volunteer and sponsor of the Thursday Rose Festival luncheon.

Macie Marie Sage Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter P. Jones III, of Tyler, is a business major and cheerleader at Southern Methodist University. 

She is in SMU Student Foundation and the McElvaney Council and was on SMU’s 2017-18 national champion cheer team. 

Her mother, Rosemary Sage Jones, was a volunteer. Her father, Walter Jones, is in Order of the Rose.

Her parents have sponsored the festival’s Kickoff Party and Thursday Luncheon. 

Austin Conner Jones, her brother, was an escort and Ilene Jones Sandlin, an aunt, was a lady-in-waiting. 

Other family members include Anita Jones Nourse, grandmother, and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Sage, grandparents.

Elizabeth Reid Laine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Anthony Laine, of Tyler, attends St. John’s University in New York City. She is a business major and is in Phi Sigma Sigma sorority.

Reid participates in Campus Ministry, Relay for Life and School and College Readiness programs. She volunteers at and helps with fundraisers for St. Mary’s Hospital. 

Her mother, Suzanne Reynolds Laine, was a duchess and has served on committees.

Laine’s siblings are Caroline Leigh Laine, Matthew Anthony Laine Jr., and Charles Edward Laine.

Autumn Elizabeth Lundy, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. David Lundy, of Tyler, is a civil engineering major at The University Texas at Austin, where she in Pi Beta Phi sorority.

Her mother, Sara Lundy, has served on the Wardrobe Committee. Her parents have sponsored the Kickoff Party.

David Lundy Jr., her brother, was an escort and Laura Lundy, her sister, was a lady-in-waiting.

Hanna Louise Maynard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Neal Maynard, of Tyler, attends Texas A&M University, where she is majoring in special education.

She is active in Marvin Methodist Church and the Collegiate Honor Society. She works with special-needs children. She is on the president’s list and dean’s list.

She has been a Queen’s Tea junior volunteer. Her mother served on the Wardrobe Properties, Door Keeper and Hospitality committees, and held many other positions.

Other family members who have participated in the festival include Johnny Stewart, uncle, Queen’s Coronation usher; Janie Stewart, aunt, officer in Friends of the Rose; and Samantha Stewart, cousin, lady-in-waiting.

Kenzi Madison Payne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kyle Dale Payne, of Tyler, attends Stephen F. Austin State University, where she is majoring in dance performance and choreography.

She is active in the college’s Dance Repertory Company, Dance Works, and Children’s Miracle Network Hospital Dance Marathon. She has been a Queen’s Tea junior hostess.

Karson Ann-Marie Payne-Fore, her sister, was a lady-in-waiting and Queen’s Tea junior hostess.

Madeline Leigh Roberts, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Mark Darin Roberts, of Tyler, attends the University of Mississippi. She she is majoring in accounting and is in Kappa Kappa Gamma.

She is in Gamma Beta Phi Society, Phi Eta Sigma Honors Society and the Education Committee of her sorority. She is also on the dean’s list. 

She has served as a Queen’s Tea junior hostess.

Her mother, Meredith Foster Roberts, has served on the Wardrobe, Rose Show, Queen’s Tea and Lady-in-Waiting Luncheon committees and as Duchess Liaison Chair. Her father was a Strutter.

Other family members who have been in the festival include Haleigh Lynne Roberts, sister, lady-in-waiting; Patrick Lawrence Malone III, cousin, escort; and Stephen Christopher Short, uncle, escort. Belinda Foster Short, aunt,  publicity coordinator.

Her sister is Mary Margaret Roberts.

Alexis Blair Terry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Terry, of Tyler, attends Tyler Junior College, where she is majoring in elementary education and is an Apache Belle.

She is the Apache Belles social officer and in Phi Theta Kappa honor society.

She has served as a Queen’s Tea junior hostess.

Her mother, Ginger Elliott Terry, was a duchess. Other family members who have participated include Camille Brown, grandmother, whose roles have included Queen’s Coronation director; Dick Brown, grandfather, escort; and Carter Elliott, uncle, escort to Stacey Hardin Hiles, mother of Rose Queen Amanda Hiles.

She has a sister, Ashton Terry.

Mary Catherine Wallace, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Wallace, of Tyler, is a biology major at Texas A&M University, where she is in Delta Zeta Lambda Xi sorority.

She is in the Texas A&M Pre-Dental Society and a leader in the Delta Zeta Lambda Xi chapter.

She has served as a Queen’s Tea junior hostess.

Her mother, Martha Jane Lewis Wallace, has been a festival party host and her father has helped stage the Rose Festival Parade.

Catherine Lewis Irwin, her aunt, was a duchess.

Her siblings are William Henry Wallace and Sarabeth Jane Wallace.
