GO & DO: Day for Kids provides activities Saturday in Bergfeld Park; Art of Peace offers special events all week

Children can enjoy games, crafts and entertainment at Day for Kids 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in Bergfeld Park. Organizations that provide services to families with children will be in the park.
Children can play on bounce houses and take part in activities throughout the park. Performers will be on stage in the amphitheater and food trucks will be on site.

Presented by the Boys & Girls Clubs, the event encourages parents and children to spend time together.
ART OF PEACE FESTIVAL
“Sowing the Seeds of Peace” is the theme of the Art of Peace Festival Sept. 14 to 23 in Tyler.
The annual festival encourages creative expressions of peace. It coincides with the United Nations International Day of Peace .
Events include:
- Friday — Honk for Peace: Gather on the downtown square at noon with signs promoting messages of peace.
- Saturday — Art of Peace has a booth at Day for Kids in Bergfeld Park.
- Sunday through Sept. 23 — Peace Art: An exhibit of art in conjunction with the festival is on view at Tyler Museum of Art.
- Monday — The Peace Meal: The annual community meal is set for 6 p.m. at TISD Career and Technology Center, 3013 Earl Campbell Parkway. Reservations are encouraged.
- Tuesday — Meditation: Learn the value of inner peace and take time to be calm 5 p.m. at Tyler Public Library
- Tuesday — Tyler Talking Together: Come to The Foundry Coffee House at 7 p.m. and engage in meaningful conversations about culture and race.
- Thursday — Songs of Peace: Gather at Stanley’s, 525 S. Beckham Ave., to hear musicians express messages of peace through song.
- Sept. 21 — Peace Concert: Hear the folk duo Trout Fishing in America perform at at Liberty Hall. Admission is $20.
- Sept 21 — Peace Pole: During a ceremony at noon, officials will dedicate a Peace Pole on Rose Rudman Trail at Shiloh Park.
- Sept. 22 — Peace Words: Poets and storytellers share stories that promote peace at 7 p.m. at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 1629 Old Omen Road.

The Gregg County Fair continues through Saturday at 1123 Jaycee Drive, Longview.
The fair opens 6 p.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday. General admission tickets are $6. Patrons pay extra to ride the rides on the midway.
