The rain wasn’t enough to stop the Labor Day celebration at True Vine Brewery on Monday.

The puddles on the ground were just one more thing for children to play in, as they ran across the stage, through the brewery’s children’s park and around their parents getting ready to grill.

The brewery tries to give people a space to have fun and relax, without the hassles of setting up holiday parties at home, said Jarod Chacon, directing of marketing.

“We try to give people a place to come together,” he said. “Community is one of our core values, we want to create a space where everyone is always welcome.”

Vance Garvey had the grill fired up, cooking for his friends. He said he came out to cook because he loves being with his friends at the brewery.

Although attendance was below the 400 that the Fourth of July event brought in, a large group of families still chose the venue for their holiday fun.

All the families seemed to know one another, combining into one large group.

Chacon said it’s a regular occurrence to see patrons firing up the grills and sharing with new friends. True Vine provided the hot dogs for the children, and deals on beer for the adults.

Mermaids and Unicorns was the most popular choice, but other flavors such as Chubby Angel Baby, named for the cherubic statues popular in Italy, was also in high demand.

Soon the brewery will begin distributing in Dallas, spreading its particular brand of hops and fun all over Texas.

The brewery hosts events weekly, but also has regular holiday events and special themed events such as the upcoming Hoptoberfest.

The events are part of a promise True Vine made to its patrons when it looked for funding to expand, and given the crowds even on rainy days it looks as if they are upholding their commitment to building a community.
