BROWNSBORO — It was a warm and muggy Saturday morning when the Brownsboro Bears and Gladewater Bears tangled in a football scrimmage.

Both teams got after it and the coaches now have a little better idea about their offenses and defenses.

In the controlled part of the scrimmage, Gladewater drew first blood with a short touchdown run by Ajani Harris. Gladewater QB Tristan Holmes hit TC Minter with a TD pass on the final play of the controlled play. Both teams had scoring opportunities denied by penalties.

The final part of the scrimmage included two 10-minute quarters. Gladewater scored on a long TD run by Harris and a 1-yard plunge by Rashaud Johnson.

Brownsboro quarterback Cole Williams scored and Harris added a TD for Gladewater but both were called back due to penalties.

All in all both teams seem to have the look of playoff bound squads. The effort was there even if the execution seemed a little rusty.

Brownsboro travels to Nacogdoches Thursday to scrimmage Silsbee in a 5 p.m. start. Gladewater hosts Daingerfield at 7 p.m. Friday.
