Fans are being encouraged not to bring bags of any type into the stadium during football games. Some types of bags will be allowed though.
Tyler ISD Athletics Director Greg Priest said the move was not prompted by any specific incident, but the district regularly reviews safety procedures.
“Every year we look at ways to improve the fan experience and the safety of our fans,” he said. “That’s our No. 1 priority.”
Priest said the policy will be in effect for the first game of the season, as the stadium reopens after renovations, on Aug. 31.
